[kokoma] Nouveau plan
J'ai fait un nouveau plan. On pourrait l'utiliser sur la page Lingála et Lonkásá ya libosó. [[Image:LanguageMap-Lingala-Location.png]]
- Entre l'ancienne carte (pas selon les indications wikipédia) il y avait deux informations. Celle de la diffusion géographique comme langue véhiculaire (vert claire manque), p.ex. le nord de l'Angola. Par contre la nouvelle carte est plus belle. --Bombo 13:21, 11 Apr 2005 (UTC)

[kokoma] interface translations
Why are interface translations in French and Lingala, instead of JUST lingala??
- Unfortunately the number of Lingála speaking participants on the Lingála Wikipedia is very small. Some people who help the Lingála Wikipedia can't speak very well the Lingála language. That is the reason because some menus are bilingual Lingála/French. First all tools were in English.
- Let's find a lot of Lingála speaking peoble who participe and we don't need anymore the French translation!
- Please sign your comments. Thank you. --Bombo 13:28, 27 ogusiti 2005 (UTC)
-
- That's no excuse. If you do not remove French right away, I will complain on meta-wiki.
-
-
- There was a consensus about this befor you arrived on the ln WP, but WP is democratic, so you can register and then start a discussion about this topic on http://ln.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Community_Portal
- Meta sais about Wikipedia: Wikipedia has three meanings:
- First, it is an encyclopedia. This is the end product, which has to be promoted (via press release, interviews), stabilized (cd and paper version), distributed (in as many countries and as many languages possible) and protected (respect of our copyright, brand name)
- Second, it is a project. With all its technical requirements, data organisation etc
- Third, it is a community, rather loose, very diverse, with participants having one common goal : making free and organised content together... and perhaps as many related goals as there are participants

- Please help us, we need people like you for new articles in Lingála or who translate articles from the English (or another) Wikipedia to Lingála. --Bombo 16:13, 30 ogusiti 2005 (UTC)

- Mark has brought this issue up on the Wikipedia mailing list. Have you considered just setting your own Preferences to French rather than adding French to the default interface? Any logged in user can see the interface in any language after setting their preferences, and non-logged users can do so by appending &uselang=en to the URL, like Lonkásá ya libosó?uselang=fr. - The interface and the content should be in lingala only. So far we still need a lot of translators. The interface is not completely translated but what has been done should not be displayed in french. As far as the content, we should avoid having pages in English or French. It's okey to have keyword (as in a table or sections titles) but the content itself should be in lingala. Translators shouldn't copy and paste, and then leave untranslated text. ----Moyogo 16:26, 8 septembere 2005 (UTC)

- If there are anymore some French words in the interface, please tell me. For English words, please help to translate. To translate, you can became an administrator or translate on this page, and an administrator will change the interface. Please help us, we need people like you for new articles in Lingála or who translate articles from the English (or another) Wikipedia to Lingála. --Bombo 13:13, 15 septembere 2005 (UTC)

Lisapo lya Wikipedia. Bazalí nkásá 1 426 ya lingála o Wikipedia.I have changed this sentence to Nkásá ya lingála izali. Ba is the subject marker for the third person of plural in lingala when human beings are involved. The subject markers for other classes of nouns depend on the prefix. Nkásá (plural of lokásá) starts with a nasal consonant therefore the appropriate subject marker is i instead of Ba. I do think that the sequence of the word is better this new way that the old. The old sequence sound more like a translation word by word of french or english Il y a 332 pages de lingála or There are 332 lingála's pages. Thought of a native Kinshasa-lingála speaker not a native Mangémba-lingála speaker. -- ce méssage non signé est du 23 febwáli 2011 à 18:20 de Esengo

- Merci Esengo, tes contributions et améliorations sont très bienvenues. Il n'y a malheureusement pas beaucoup de contributeurs qui maitrisent le lingala à fond. Thank you very much for your contributions and improvements. Unfortunately, there are only a few people here who know lingala very well (I do not).--Etienne (Bombo) 23 febwáli 2011 à 20:10 (UTC)

[kokoma] Wikibooks
There is a project called Lingála Wikibooks. The project is empty. No one is working on it. There is a vote to close the project or keep it open. If you want to close down Lingala Wikibooks, you can vote "support deletion". If you want to keep Lingala Wikibooks open, you can vote "oppose deletion". Also, if you write pages in the Lingala language in the project, you can help keep it open. It would help if someone would tell people about the vote in Lingala.
--Coppertwig 21:37, 6 novɛ́mbɛ 2007 (UTC)
[kokoma] Betawiki: better support for your language in MediaWiki
Dear community. I am writing to you to promote a special wiki called Betawiki. This wiki facilitates the localisation (l10n) of the MediaWiki interface. You may have changed many messages here to use your language in the interface, but if you would log in to for example the Japanese language Wiktionary, you would not be able to use the interface as well translated as here. In fact, of over 1,700 messages in the core of MediaWiki, 75 messages have been translated. Betawiki also supports the translation of messages for well over 100 extensions, with over 1,550 messages. Translators for over 70 languages contribute their work to MediaWiki this way every month.
If you wish to contribute to better support of your language in MediaWiki, as well as for many MediaWiki extensions, please visit Betawiki, create an account and request translator privileges. You can see the current status of localisation of your language on MediaWiki.org and do not forget to get in touch with others that may already be working on your language on Betawiki.
If you have any further questions, please let me know on my talk page on Betawiki. We will try and assist you as much as possible, for example by importing all messages from a local wiki for you to start with, if you so desire.
You can also find us on the Freenode IRC network in the channel #mediawiki-i18n where we would be happy to help you get started.
Thank you very much for your attention and I do hope to see some of you on Betawiki soon! Cheers! Siebrand@Betawiki 13 dɛsɛ́mbɛ 2007 à 17:30 (UTC)

- Hello Siebrand & GerardM
- When we translate at Betwawiki, this translations will also apear at ln.wiki or have we to translate at to places in the same time? At ln.wiki there are at the moment only two people who participe more or less regularly :-( (But it is still the 4th african Wikipedia after Afrikaans, Kiswihili and Yoruba)--Etienne (Bombo) 12 apríli 2008 à 23:26 (UTC)
- When you translate at BetaWiki, the localisation will be committed to the MediaWiki software itself. This will typically in a matter of days be copied to all the Wikimedia Foundation projects.. including Commons.. including the Lingala projects. It is for this reason that the WMF approves of this :) GerardM 13 apríli 2008 à 09:56 (UTC)

[kokoma] The most often used MediaWiki messages
Hoi, the most often used MediaWiki messages (less than 25% of all MediaWiki messages) are the most visible messages. They help our readers and editors the most. We are aiming to get these messages localised for as many languages as possible by the end of the year. Please help us and yourself and localise these messages. I updated the image and lowered the acute. You may need to click on the image and press CTRL+F5, because the old image is still in your browser's cache and the image will not update on your computer automatically. If the community agrees that version 1 is fine, I think it's best that an admin here uploads it to File:Wiki.png (on this Wikipedia) and protects it. Then we can file a bug report at bugzilla and make the bugfixers change the logo. If there are still some minor issues with the logo, I still think it's best to upload it first. Changes can always be made by uploading a new version of the logo. Kapitein 2 apríli 2009 à 16:04 (UTC)
[kokoma] The LocalisationUpdate extension has gone live
The LocalisationUpdate extension is now enabled for all Wikimedia projects. From now on new localisations that become available in SVN will become available to your project within 24 hours. Your localisations get into SVN from translatewiki.net typically within a day and at worst in two days. This is a huge improvement from the old practice where the localisations became available with new software. This could take weeks, even months.
The localisations done by our community at translatewiki.net are committed to SVN typically every day. When the system messages in English are the same as the local messages, they will now be inserted in a file and are available for use in all our projects in a timely manner
[kokoma] What this means for you
Local messages have an impact on the performance of our system. It is best when messages are as much as possible part of the system messages. In order to remove unnecessary duplication, all the messages that have a local localisation and are exactly the same as the system message will be removed. What we ask you to do is to compare and proof read the messages in translatewiki.net and the local messages. You can then either remove local messages when the translatewiki.net message is to be preferred or, you can update the message at translatewiki.net.
Messages that are specific to your project will have to stay as they are. You do want to check if the format and the variables of the message are still the same.
[kokoma] Why localise at translatewiki.net
When you localise at translatewiki.net, your messages will be used in all Wikimedia projects and eventually in all MediaWiki based projects. This is how we provide the standard support for your language. When messages change, at translatewiki.net you will be prompted to revisit your translations. Localising is more efficient because we have innovated the process to make you more efficient; there is text explaining about messages and we have applied AJAX technology to reduce the number of clicks you have to make.

[kokoma] How can we improve the usability for your language
We expect that with the implementation of LocalisationUpdate the usability of MediaWiki for your language will improve. We are now ready to look at other aspects of usability for your language as well. There are two questions we would like you to answer: Are there issues with the new functionality of the Usability Initiative Does MediaWiki support your language properly
The best way to answer the first question is to visit the translatewiki.net. Change the language to your language, select the “vector” skin and add the advanced tool bar in in the preferences and check out the new functionality. And make some changes in your user page. When there is a need to improve on the localisation, please make the necessary changess . It should update your localisation straight away. We would like you to report each issue individually at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Usability_issues.
When there are problems with the support of MediaWiki for your language, we really want to know about this. It is best to report each issue separately. In this way there will be no large mass of issues to resolve but we can address each issue on its own. Consider issues with the display of characters, the presentation of your script, the position of the side bar, the combination of text with other languages, scripts. It is best to try this in an environment like the prototype wiki as it provides you with a clean, basic and up to date environment. The prototype wiki is available for five languages but you can select any of them, change the preferences to your language and test out MediaWiki for your language.
We would like you to report each issue individually at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Language_issues. The issues you raise will all be assessed. It is important to keep each issue separate, because this will make it easier to understand the issues and find solutions.
PS This text has been approved by Naoko, Brion and Siebrand. Thanks, GerardM 30 sɛtɛ́mbɛ 2009 à 11:36 (UTC)

[kokoma] 2010 Fundraising Is Almost Here
Hello Wikipedians, I am Theo and I am working for the Wikimedia Foundation during the 2010 Fundraiser. My job is to be the liaison between your community and the Foundation. This year's fundraiser is intended to be a collaborative and global effort; we recognize that banner messages which may perform well in the United States don't necessarily translate well, or appeal to international audiences.
I'm contacting you as I am currently looking for translators who are willing to contribute to this project by helping translate and localize messages into different languages and suggesting messages that would appeal to your readers on the Fundraising Meta Page. We've started the setup on meta for both banner submission, statistical analysis, and grouping volunteers together.
Use the talk pages on meta, talk to your local communities, talk to others, talk to us, and add your feedback to the proposed messages as well! I look forward to working with you during this year's fundraiser. If someone could translate this message I would really appreciate it so that everyone is able to understand our goals and contribute to this year's campaign.

[kokoma] Call for image filter referendum
The Wikimedia Foundation, at the direction of the Board of Trustees, will be holding a vote to determine whether members of the community support the creation and usage of an opt-in personal image filter, which would allow readers to voluntarily screen particular types of images strictly for their own account.
Further details and educational materials will be available shortly. The referendum is scheduled for 12-27 August, 2011, and will be conducted on servers hosted by a neutral third party. Referendum details, officials, voting requirements, and supporting materials will be posted at Meta:Image filter referendum shortly.
Sorry for delivering you a message in English. Please help translate the pages on the referendum on Meta and join the translators mailing list.

[kokoma] Terms of Use update
I apologize that you are receiving this message in English. Please help translate it.
Hello,
The Wikimedia Foundation is discussing changes to its Terms of Use. The discussion can be found at Talk:Terms of use. Everyone is invited to join in. Because the new version of Terms of use is not in final form, we are not able to present official translations of it. Volunteers are welcome to translate it, as German volunteers have done at m:Terms of use/de, but we ask that you note at the top that the translation is unofficial and may become outdated as the English version is changed. The translation request can be found at m:Translation requests/WMF/Terms of Use 2 -- Maggie Dennis, Community Liaison 27 ɔkɔtɔ́bɛ 2011 à 01:04 (UTC)

[kokoma] Announcing Wikipedia 1.19 beta
Wikimedia Foundation is getting ready to push out 1.19 to all the WMF-hosted wikis. As we finish wrapping up our code review, you can test the new version right now on beta.wmflabs.org. For more information, please read the release notes or the start of the final announcement.
The following are the areas that you will probably be most interested in:
- Faster loading of javascript files makes dependency tracking more important.
- New common*.css files usable by skins instead of having to copy piles of generic styles from MonoBook or Vector's css.
- The default user signature now contains a talk link in addition to the user link.
- Searching blocked usernames in block log is now clearer.
- Better timezone recognition in user preferences.
- Improved diff readability for colorblind people.
- The interwiki links table can now be accessed also when the interwiki cache is used (used in the API and the Interwiki extension).
- More gender support (for instance in logs and user lists).
- Language converter improved, e.g. it now works depending on the page content language.
- Time and number-formatting magic words also now depend on the page content language.
- Bidirectional support further improved after 1.18.
Report any problems on the labs beta wiki and we'll work to address them before they software is released to the production wikis.
Note that this cluster does have SUL but it is not integrated with SUL in production, so you'll need to create another account. You should avoid using the same password as you use here. — Global message delivery 15 yanwáli 2012 à 16:22 (UTC)
[kokoma] Language support group for Lingala
The Wikimedia Foundation has brought together a new team of developers who are dedicated to language support. This team is to support all the languages and consequently it is not realistic to expect that the team members can provide proper support for your language. It is for this reason that we are looking for volunteers who will make up a language support team.
This language support team will be asked to provide us with information about their language. Such information may need to be provided either to us or on a website that we will indicate to you. Another activity will be to test software that will likely have an effect on the running of the MediaWiki software. We are looking for people who clearly identify their ability. Formal knowledge is definitely appreciated.
As much of the activity will be concentrated on translatewiki.net, it will be a plus when team members know how to localise at translatewiki.net.
Thanks, Gmeijssen 20 yanwáli 2012 à 14:55 (UTC)
[kokoma] MediaWiki 1.19
